Having secured a debut podium in the team’s very first race weekend in TCR Asia last time out in Malaysia, Eurasia Motorsport repeated the feat on its second outing, this time in Zhuhai China, with a fine third position for Daniel Miranda in the #20 Hyundai i30 N TCR.

It was all about the second race of the weekend for Eurasia Motorsport, as a clutch issue off the line effectively derailed Daniel Miranda’s third round of the championship. However, the young Filipino bounced back in style in round four which took place in especially in tricky conditions. As his rivals struggled to steer clear of trouble, Daniel put in a faultless performance to finish in third.

Teammate ‘Zack’ Gao Hua Yang meanwhile made gains throughout the race weekend to record tenth and sixth-place finishes respectively in the sister #30 Hyundai. His first race was severely compromised by red flags in the all-important qualifying session, but the Chinese racer made best of the situation to move up the order in both events; securing valuable championship points for himself and the team, while gaining further experience in the all-new TCR environment.

Daniel is now fourth in the drivers’ classification with 44 points, just six behind nearest rival in third place, whilst also leading the Asian drivers’ standings. Zack meanwhile vaults ninth overall off the back of his strong weekend.

“The second race of the weekend was especially very good for us as a team,” stated Team Principal Mark Goddard after round four of the Championship. “Daniel made a cautious start following problems off the line in round three, and lost a few positions as a result. However, it was a tricky race in changeable conditions and Daniel’s caution paid off well. It was an error-free race – while some of his rivals slipped up – and great pace to secure his second podium position of the season.

“For Zack, it was another strong performance from him as a whole and he is always quick off the start,” Goddard continued. “He continues to demonstrate that he can race hard and cleanly. He’s getting back into the groove having had little seat time for the past two years and we can see once he qualifies better, he – Like Daniel – can be a regular top six runner from the outset of the weekend.”

Eurasia Motorsport continue preparation for the next round of the TCR Asia Championship which remains in China, this time over at the home of Formula 1 in Shanghai early June.

In addition, work continues apace for the return of the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans Ligier. The LMP2 car will soon be back at base for the team at Sepang in readiness for an extensive test programme throughout the summer in readiness for the Asian Le Mans Series.
