As a scholar of Formula Student China (FSC) – a design and engineering competition that’s known as the “cradle of automotive engineers” – Hua won the 2012 FSC Karting title and finished runner-up in both ‘Combustion’ and ‘Electronic’ Autocross the following year in 2013.
The Chinese racer is also a protégé of the Star Racing Academy, which was established by Volkswagen Group’s ‘China Sports Car Project’ to support Chinese motor sport hopefuls with their racing careers.
Under the programme, half a dozen Chinese drivers underwent comprehensive training and this opened the door for Hua to participate in the 2014 Formula Masters China Series (FMCS).
Hua acquitted himself well during his FMCS campaign and continues to show signs of progress as he prepares for the 2015 season alongside teammates, Australia’s Aidan Read and Singapore’s Sean Hudspeth.
