Having shone in the Philippine GiTi-Formula V1 Challenge, Ryo Yamada has been busy testing with Eurasia Motorsport today (17 December 2019) at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia.

The Japanese racer is just 23 years of age and having finished second in the championship, his prize is to test one of the team’s Formula Masters cars.

For Eurasia Motorsport – currently fielding two entries in the Asian Le Mans Series – it has been another chance to show how an established outfit can nurture and advise a young driver and aid an already burgeoning career.

“Ryo is really talented, very fast and has good feedback as well,” stated Team Principal Mark Goddard. “Today we had two dry sessions and one very wet session, and he demonstrated great car control in the wet!

“Drivers like Ryo can receive the same training given to our graduates such as F1 drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Antonio Giovinazzi by testing at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia or with our Formula Pilota car at the Clark International Speedway in the Philippines.

“Its great way for young drivers to develop their skills before racing in Formula 4 or beyond and for amateur drivers to improve their lap times in touring cars, GT or LMP cars by developing their driving technique in a Formula car. We’ve enjoyed working with Rio and we hop to see him back on the grid in 2020.”

In addition to this test, Eurasia Motorsport have further such opportunities available at Sepang in the coming weeks and months whilst exploring options to compete with two cars in the FV1 Challenge in 2020.
