In the wake of the pull out of F1 by BMW the car manufacturer has officially announced it will continue its support of the Formula BMW Pacific and European Championships. The Pacific Series scholarship trials go ahead as planned at the Sepang Circuit on September 1-2. Two winners will receive a Euro50,000 scholarship from BMW towards their 2010 Formula BMW Pacific campaign.
“BMW have done a fantastic job to help develop Formula One stars of tomorrow, witness the number of current Grand Prix racers who raced in Formula BMW” stated Eurasia Motorsport’s Mark Goddard. “The Pacific Series has been growing in stature and we are confident 2010 will see an even bigger and better championship. It’s really great value with F1 Grand Prix support races and a race at Macau. and is a cost effective option for career drivers, no matter from what part of the World they hail. As budgetary considerations become ever more important the Pacific Series must become a route to consider, especially for drivers straight out karting. It’s an economically viable method getting up to speed in a Formula car”.
