The race was not part of the main Sprint Championship being part of the two event GTWC Australia Endurance Cup. Liam Talbot should be crowned the 2024 GT World Challenge Australia Endurance Cup Driver Champion after finishing third overall in the Bathurst 12h and second at SMSP.

In a controversial race a time keeping glitch saw the safety car wave by procedure go awry handing an almost one lap lead to the winning car which was on an alternative strategy. In a fantastic drive Liam Talbot and Chaz Mostert finished just over 7 seconds adrift at the flag having clawed back almost a whole lap. Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte just missed out on a podium finish by six seconds.

The Sprint Championship ends at Bathurst on November 9-10. Mostert/Talbot currently have a thirty point lead over Brown/ Schumacher with Evans/Schutte a further six points adrift in third place. In the Sprint Cup Teams Championship Arise Racing GT lead by 11 points whilst in the Overall Team Championship, which combines the sprint and endurance races, Arise are 14 points off the lead due to not competing in the Bathurst 12h. There are a total of 57 points available over the two races at Bathurst which means none of the top drivers and teams can relax for the final race showdown.
