Eurasia’s Kyle Mitchell fought his way from 8th on the grid to a fine 4th place in the ten lap event on the Sepang F1 GP circuit whilst his team mate, Akhil Kushlani, got caught up in a first lap accident which put him out on the spot.
Mitchell was disappointed with his qualifying position but demonstrated he lacks little when it comes to race craft by forging his way to the front of the field, running in third place but under pressure from James Grunwell. The latter finally found a way past leaving the South African in fourth place, second in the rookie class. It was gritty performance as he was experiencing some discomfort due to injuries he suffered in a cycling accident earlier in the week.
Akhil Kushlani was likewise disappointed with his qualifying position but that we nothing compared to the disappointment felt when he was tagged by another car on the first lap ripping off a suspension corner and putting him out of the race.
Round 6 will be held tomorrow giving the team plenty of time to get Kushlani’s repaired.
