The team which has technical support from Eurasia Motorsport dominated the weekend with their Ferrari 296 GT3 cars taking pole position for both races and dominant race wins with a new lap record. Jaxon Evans and Elliot Shutte now hold a 39 point lead in the Driver Championship over the Feeny/Schumacher Audi whilst the team holds a 20 point lead in the Team Championship over MPC.
Jordan Love and Steve Wyatt continue their march towards the front and now lie 7th in the Driver Championship. Race One was held under floodlights and saw Schutte lose a position to Brad Schumacher at the start. However he quicky redressed the balance and drove away to hand an impressive lead to Jaxon Evans. After the stops cycled through Evans held a 20 second gap to second place and he then cruised to the flag. A slick pit stop and tyre strategy plus Schutte’s first stint had given the team an unassailable lead.
Race two saw Evans take an immediate lead breaking the lap record in the process. Schutte emerged in second place after the pit stops, the car having the extra 15 seconds in the pit lane as a result of winning the day before. Again great pit work with a change of tyres helped Schutte reduce the seven second lead to Steve Brooks and he swept past Brooks with six laps to go. Jordan Love had been in the battle for third place before running wide at Turn 1 and dropping back after a dramatic aerial trip through the grass. After the pit stops Steve Wyatt emerged in fourth and gained more experience to a 10th place finish at the flag.
The Championship now moves to Queensland Raceway on May 30-June 1st.
