Eurasia Motorsport, the race-winning Asian Formula BMW, team is pleased to announce a new partnership with Raikkonen Robertson Racing (Double R Racing) a team owned by Formula 1 driver Kimi Raikkonen.

Eurasia Motorsport was established to provide a link to Europe for Asian drivers and this new partnership with Raikkonen Robertson Racing creates a direct connection with the best team outside Formula 1.

Raikkonen Robertson Racing, who won the 2006 British Formula 3 championship and the prestigious Macau F3 Grand Prix, are the leading team in the UK and any driver with serious ambitions targets Double R Racing as the team to be with.

Team Eurasia and Raikkonen Robertson Racing will also develop and train drivers from Indonesia, Malaysia and China in preparation for the A1GP series.

Eurasia’s 2006 Formula BMW Asia driver Dominic Storey has already tested the Raikkonen Robertson Racing Formula 3 car in the UK, demonstrating how the partnership is already well established.

With the establishment of Formula BMW Asia in the region at the start of 2003, Asia Pacific now has a professional and effective training ground for youngsters making the transition from karting to junior single seater racing. However, the next step in a driver’s development requires a move to Europe and this is where the relationship with Double R really comes to the fore: When the youngsters are ready to make that all-important move, it is to a team with a proven track record which is already familiar with their career to date, talents and skills, giving them a head start.

The team will be known as “Eurasia Motorsport partnered by Raikkonen Robertson Racing”.

Anthony Hieatt – Raikkonen Robertson Racing

“We have had a good working relationship with Eurasia Motorsport during 2006 and we have seen they are a serious racing team strong in both technical and presentation aspects. With Raikkonen Robertson Racing joining the 2006 Formula BMW championship for the first time in the UK we felt increasing our association with Eurasia would benefit both teams and drivers.

The technical relationship will work both ways with engineers and mechanics from the UK joining some Asian races whilst Eurasia’s Asian staff will also attend races in the UK”.

Piers Hunnisett – Eurasia Motorsport

“This is also a great opportunity for drivers to have a direct link to one of the top teams in Europe; a driver can come from Eurasia Motorsport and test and race with Double R in either Formula BMW or Formula 3 in the UK. We are also planning a Formula 3 test team in Asia, again in partnership with Double R, for drivers to learn the art of Formula 3 without having to travel to Europe.

As a team we are always trying to find and develop relationships that can benefit our drivers as we did with the Minardi Formula 1 team”.
