Dominic Storey finished a fine third in the first of two support races for the F1 GP held at the Shanghai International Circuit. Team mates Daniel Ricciardo and Aaron Lim finished fourth and fifth whilst Zahir Ali had a storming drive back to seventh after spinning ot the back of the field.
Daniel Ricciardo had topped the timesheets in the dry practice session but qualifying this morning was wet and Dominic Storey was the best Eurasia Motorsport driver in third place from Ricciardo and Lim with Ali a disappointed eighth.
At the start of the race poleman San Abay led from Bamber and a squabbling Storey and Ricciardo. Bamber found a way past Abay and was never headed whilst once past Ricciardo, Storey closed on Abay. However Storey settled for that coveted place on the podium once he found his tyres going off on the drying track. Ricciardo just held of Lim at the flag, his Malaysian team mate running right off the track at the final turn in a desperate effort to find a way by.
Zahir Ali spun at turn two on the second lap and dropped to the back of the field. He fought his way back to seventh, finising just .089 of a second behind Mo Albaharna.
Sunday will see round 16 of the Series held on the morning of the Grand Prix and Storey will start second on the grid from Ricciardo and Lim. “I am going to win” say all three drivers and on todays evidence there is no reason why one of them cannot be on the top step of the podium, especially as Bamber will start down in the pack.
