Ananda Mikola suffered a rear suspension failure on the first lap of qualifying for the Sentul round of the Renault V6 Asia consigning him to the back of the grid.
The rear pushrod broke on the first flying lap of qualifying at the fast turn one giving Mikola a wild ride fortunately without too damage to the car. Mikola had been expected to qualify on the front row as he had been extremely competitive during testing. “We are extremey disappointed” said a team spokesman, “especially as the failure was outside of the control of the team”.
Mikola will start the sprint race last but most expect him to finish in the top five giving him a good chance for a good finish in the main race. Expect fireworks from the leading Indonesian driver tomorrow!
