Greg Murphy wrapped up second in the 2005 Asian Formula Three Promotion Class Championship with two steady drives at the final event of the year held at the Batangas Race Circuit in the Philippines.
Murphy went into the last event with a mathematical chance of winning the championship, he needed to win both events and Moreno Soeprapto to non-finish in both races. As the latter was unlikely he decided to drive to finish both races in order to ensure he beat Lee Farrell to second in the points.
“Mission accomplished” said a beaming Murphy after raced two. “I have really enjoyed racing in AF3 this year and there is absolutely no series at this level which has such well promoted events, when you are on the grid at BRC the atmosphere is awesome”
Murphy received his Championship runner up trophy at the AF3 Awards night, which also featured the final of the Miss AF3 Beauty Contest, on Monday night. “I had a hell of a headache on the plane back to Ireland so I know it must have been a good night” reported Murphy.
Murphy hopes to return to AF3 next year with Team Goddard to compete in the Overall Class.
