Yuan Bo was crowned champion of the FMCS China Driver Class after the final round of the series held at the Shanghai F1 circuit. Matthew Solomon ended the season second overall in the Championship after the expected title showdown turned sour when his gear linkage sheared on the formation lap of race one. Despite good comeback drives in the final two races, including fastest race lap almost half a second quicker than second best in the final race, the championship was out of reach. Newcomer, Aidan Read, impressed with top ten finish in his first event with a wings and slicks Formula Car.
“How Matthew handled the gear change failure demonstrated great maturity and this along with his obvious speed makes us confident he has a long and successful career in motorsport ahead of him” states Eurasia Team Principal, Mark Goddard. “We have never seen a similar failure in the series before and the part that broke is really over engineered. It was incredible bad luck. Yuan Bo has improved greatly as the season has progressed and he fully deserved to win the China Driver Championship. Aidan Read demonstrated fantastic potential and I am sure he will become a race winner in the series.”
