Eurasia’s run of podium finishes shows no sign of stopping as Aidan Read driving a Eurasia Formula Masters China Series car took double victory and a battling P3 in the 3 races in Buriram, Thailand this weekend (23-24 July) to add to the LMP2 P2 in the European Le Mans Series last week in Austria, and the victories Read achieved both at the previous FMCS events in Shanghai and the double LMP3 victory in The ACO Sprint Series in Malaysia.
The run of success is a strong return to form for the Philippines based team that have a long and strong pedigree in both Formula and Endurance racing across continents.
Read’s results with the team in Thailand this weekend have closed the gap to the more experienced FMCS championship leader Phillip Hambrecht in what is shaping up to be a battle between the 2 drivers for the 2017 championship.
The young Australian, now in his second full season with Eurasia took pole and lights to flag victories with fastest race laps in races 1 and 2, but was hampered in race 3 by a broken front wing caused through contact when making a passing move on Zheng on lap 3. From then on, it was a battle to hold back Korean Kim to preserve the podium, which he achieved despite the heavily understeering car he had to contend with to the flag.
Team Principle Mark Goddard on Aidan Read : “Aidan drove brilliantly this weekend, particularly in race 3 where whilst he didn’t win he adapted to a damaged car to still finish on the podium. His recent outings with Eurasia in the LMP3 car have helped grow his confidence and develop his driving and his record in Formula Masters since that outing in Sepang is testament to that”.
The Eurasia team will now prepare for the next rounds of FMCS in Malaysia (13-14 August) as well as the 2nd round of the ACO Sprint Cup and the Paul Ricard Round (26-28 August) of the European Le Mans Series.
