CMRT Eurasia Motorsport secured further success today as the Blancpain GT Asia Series met for the penultimate round of the championship at Shanghai International Circuit with James Cai and Kenneth Lim securing the runner-up position in the Am/Am class.

The opening race of the weekend took place in damp conditions which resulted in some opting to race with slick tyres, others on wets. Cai in the CMRT Eurasia Aston Martin Vantage GT3 was one of the latter which allowed him to surge into the class lead, ninth overall on a hectic first lap.

Following a brief safety car period Cai consolidated his lead until the track began to dry and slicks became the tyre to have. By the time the compulsory pit stop window opened Cai turned the car over to Kenneth Lim in second position in class after a fine drive in difficult conditions with the tyres offering little grip once the track started to dry.

Lim, now shod on slicks, was under attack from Lin Tue in car #2 Lamborghini and after they had swapped places a couple of times, Lim, was able to open a gap and set about catching the class leader, Andrew Haryanto who had started the race on slicks.

Haryanto found his tyres past their best at the front of the field and Lim reduced a 35 second deficit to just 15 at the flag, finishing second in class, 14th overall.

It was the most competitive drive for both the Aston Martin drivers this year and bodes well for race two which will be held on Sunday September 24th.
