CMRT Eurasia Motorsport are all set for the Blancpain GT Series Asia season finale that takes place this weekend (October 14-15) at Zhejiang Circuit China. For the team and drivers James Cai and Kenneth Lim, rounds 11 and 12 of the championship offer the opportunity to claim the GT3 Am Drivers championship.
The duo has enjoyed a great run of form of late, securing a second and third position last time out in Shanghai in the #69 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 to move them fourth in the championship standings.
With the string of consistent results, coupled with a fantastic victory in round four of the championship at Chang International Circuit, they find themselves just 12 points behind the series leader with 50 points still to play for.
“The race for the Am title is very close,” said team principal Mark Goddard. “James and Kenneth drove very well in the last event at Shanghai, in fact they have been improving with every race, which gives the whole team confidence we can win the class championship.”
The new circuit, which at 3.3 kilometres in length, is expected to be quite a challenge with the mountain section of the circuit being especially twisty, something that the team expect should play to their favour.
“The team already has race winning experience at Zhejiang in the FRD LMP3 Series and this allows our engineers to develop a good starting set up for the Aston,” Goddard continued. “It’s a circuit of two halves, one tight and narrow and the other fast with long straights. This should suit our car and help bring us a great result.”
Practice takes place on Friday morning with qualifying from 15.55 local time. The first race is at 14:00 Saturday with the season finale Sunday at 10:50.
