Arise Racing GT with technical support from Eurasia Motorsport emerged from the final round of the GT World Challenge Australia Championship with the Sprint Cup Team and Driver Championships. Chaz Mostert and Liam Talbot were victorious after a stunning drive from last to third in the final race. Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte finished third in the championship. A fantastic result for a new team and new cars, the Ferrari 296 GT3 proving to be competitive from first race to last.
The first of two races at the iconic Mount Panorama Bathurst circuit saw championship rivals Will Brown and Brad Schumacher take first place with Mostert and Talbot second despite a 10 second pit stop success penalty due to finishing second in the previous Sprint race. Evans and Schutte in the #8 car finished 6th after taking a 15 second success pit stop penalty for winning the previous race.
In order to win the championship the Will Brown car needed to place first in the final race with the Mostert/Talbot car finishing 10th or lower. Chaz Mostert started last on the grid but at the flag finished 3rd after great drives from both drivers. This was more than enough to win the championship with the Brown car finishing 6th. The #8 car started in second place and Jaxon Evans handed the car over to Elliott Schutte in the same place after a great drive. Schutte quickly took the lead and in an accomplished drive ended the race in first place. However he was handed a 5 second penalty for an unsafe release in the pit stop which demoted him to 4th place. The team were surprised to receive the penalty and believe Evans and Schutte deserved to take the win.
The team now looks forward to the Bathurst 12h next year.
