Martin Cao and Garnet Patterson will renew their successful partnership in the Eurasia Motorsport Ligier JSP3 for the 2018 FRD LMP3 Series. The pair shared the car for the inaugural FRD LMP3 Series this year becoming the first race winners in the championship. The championship will expand to five rounds held from April to October at circuits throughout China.
A spurious FIA driver grading this year for Cao stymied their efforts for more success, the pair having to spend more time in the pit lane during the compulsory pitstops than their rivals. Cao has now been correctly graded as a silver for 2018 allowing the pairing to vie for championship honours.
“Eurasia is happy to return to the FRD LMP3 Series for 2018, the first year proved to be a great success providing competitive racing, great circuits, fantastic media coverage with live streaming and a great atmosphere at the events with large enthusiastic crowds,” said team principal Mark Goddard. “The realigned compulsory pitstop times for 2018 will give all driver combinations a fair chance of winning and with Martin and Garnet we have a driver pairing capable of championship success.”
Martin Cao added: “It is great to be back again with the team after a very successful season. With a strong partner in Garnet Patterson and my lowered driver’s category we are able to be competitive once again for the championship title fight!”
Garnet Patterson said: “Great to be teaming back up with Eurasia Motorsport and Martin Cao for season two of FRD LMP3! With such a successful end to our 2017 season, we are all excited to get underway in 2018 and push for the Championship win! A massive thank you to Kenneth Ma and the whole team at FRD Motorsports for organising such a competitive and successful series, which I think is only going to be even stronger next year. ”
Eurasia are entering two cars and are currently talking to potential drivers for the second car. Interested drivers should contact Mark Goddard at [email protected]
