Frank Yu will start round three of the GT3 Asia Series in second place after qualifying was held for the Japanese Super GT support race at Sepang today. The first race will be held on Saturday followed by round four on Sunday. Team mate Samson Chan will start from fourth spot with Eric Cheung in tenth.

Frank Yu was consistently setting times good for second on the grid during the 30 minute qualifying session whilst Samson Chan was in third spot until the last minute of the session when Kevin Tse went a mere 0.058 seconds quicker. Chan had looked good for second place until the final corner of his best lap when a failed gear change cost him three tenths of a second. Meanwhile Eric Cheung continued his improvement with a 2m 14.2 lap time which was good for tenth on the grid.
