The Chinese driver finished on the second step of the Asian Class podium for round two of the Formula Pilota China Championship held at the Guangdong International Circuit. Zhu finished fifth overall beating Robert Visoiu to the flag.
Zhu started in fourth place and despite a good start ended the first lap still in fourth. Luis Sa Silva then attacked at every corner allowing the top three to edge away and a distant Visoiu to catch up with the battling duo. Sa Silva eventually found a way past into turn one and this gave Visoiu the chance to slip by. However Zhu defended well and whilst he battled with Visoiu it allowed Sa Silva to make his escape. Over the last few laps the top six remained in station and Zhu took the chequered flag in fifth place.
“Its not a bad result but we had hoped for better” stated Eurasia Motorsport’s Mark Goddard. “We know the pace is in the car and David to finish in the top three and I am sure with more laps David can be a real factor for race wins”.
The next round of the series will take place at Shanghai on July 24th.
