New Zealander, Dominic Storey, travels to the next round of the Formula BMW Asia Series at the Sentul Circuit in Indonesia, in a confident frame of mind. The last event at the Goldenport Circuit in Beijing saw him exceed his team’s expectations by taking a fine second position in round six held at the Chinese circuit. Storey is almost certainly the least experienced driver on the grid and the team had set him a target of one podium finish by the mid-season point.

“F.BMW is a two year project for a real novice driver and we really didn’t expect him to be so fast so soon” reported Team Driver Coach, Asian F3 Champion Mark Goddard. “The term he is the ‘real deal’ springs to mind when talking about Dominic. He is fast, determined, committed and fit. He eats and drinks racing and this is the attitude you need to win Championships. All he needs now is more experience and that he is getting with every race. I am sure he will be a race winner and it will not surprise me if its sooner rather than later”.

Formula BMW Asia is seeing its most competitive season to date with up to seven potential race winners starting every race. This is good news for drivers like Dominic as it brings them on very quickly and will produce fast drivers capable of running competitively in any wings and slicks Formula. Graduates of F.BMW worldwide are able to be instantly competitive in Formula such as Formula Renault and Formula Three. Racing on an International stage also helps young drivers develop allowing them to experience the procedures of an FIA event at an early stage in their careers. “Whatever Dominic does in the future I am sure his F.BMW experience will have fast tracked his development as a driver and it will give him a real chance of getting all the way to Formula One” remarked Goddard.
