Eurasia Motorsport are back in action this coming weekend (11-12 January) as the Asian Le Mans Series heads to Buriram International Circuit, Thailand, for the third round of the championship.
The first half of the campaign has seen the Philippines-based squad secure a podium position in the opening round of the championship before a car failure took them out of contention in Japan last month. With plenty of test mileage already complete at this venue, both Aidan Read and Nobu Yamanaka are confident of another strong showing this weekend.
With 15 points on the board, Eurasia Motorsport are sixth in the standings with just 13 points covering the next five cars. With 52 points potentially available in the remaining two rounds of the series, the team expects progress in the championship battle ahead of the season finale.
“It’s still all to play for in terms of the LMP3 championship,” stated Team Principal Mark Goddard. “We were very unfortunate with the car failure at Fuji as it was something totally unexpected and not an issue we could have ever predicted. However, in both races so far in the championship, we have shown good pace and equally as importantly, have been able to make the best of the strategic options available to us to maximise the results where possible.
“We spent two-days testing in Thailand, so both Aidan – and especially Nobu – will be able to hit the ground running. It’s essential we get a strong result with just two races remaining, but we’re confident that we have the all-around package to get the job done.”
The 4H of Buriram gets underway with the first official practice session on Friday 11 January, with qualifying later the same day. Saturday’s race starts at 11.45 local time, 04.45 GMT.
