Asian based team, Eurasia Motorsport, has confirmed a two driver line up for this year’s European Le Mans Series. Mainland Chinese driver, Pu Jun Jin, will join Nick De Bruijn of the Netherlands in the team’s Oreca 03R Nissan LMP2 car. Eurasia ran cars in the past two seasons of Asian Le Mans, winning a Le Mans 24 Hours entry with an Aston Martin GT3 in 2013 and last year finishing second with an Oreca LMP2.
The team is one of the most successful in the South East Asian region winning championships in both Formula cars and GT. Pu Jun Jin was the 2013 Formula Masters China Series China Driver Champion with the team. The Chinese driver also raced for Eurasia in the Asian Le Mans Series giving him valuable experience prior to this year’s ELMS campaign. De Bruijn, who is a karting champion and has raced in Formula BMW, Formula Masters and GT, was extremely impressive in testing at the Sepang F1 circuit in Malaysia.
“What makes this project unique is that it is probably the first time an Asian Team, Japanese apart, has raced in Europe entirely with its Asian based personnel” reports Team Principal Mark Goddard. “We have a big task ahead of us and we are under no illusion that the competition is anything but really tough.”
The team are currently at Paul Ricard for the Official Test to be held on March 23 to 24.
