Eurasia Motorsport hit the ground running as the 2019-20 Asian Le Mans Series got underway at Shanghai International Circuit in November and head to the Tailem Bend, South Australia confident that the form can be reproduced and that the team can challenge for outright victory.

The team again fields two Ligier JS P217s, the #1 car featuring Nick Cassidy, now his successful Japanese racing duties have successfully concluded. The newly crowned Super Formula champion is joined by fellow New Zealander Daniel Gaunt and Japanese racer Nobu Yamanaka.

The sister #36 entry of Nick Foster and Aidan Read has a distinctive Australian feel about it with the pairing reunited with former F1 driver Roberto Merhi. With a sensational pole position and second place in China, they have 19-points on the board and with each driver proving evenly matched, they will be ones to watch around the impressive 7.7-kilometre Bend Motorsport Park.

“We know after Shanghai we have cars capable of winning and with our driver line-up we have to be confident of another good result at The Bend,” stated Team Principal Mark Goddard. “The #36 entry features two Australians in Aidan Read and Nick Foster. The extra impetus of racing on home soil will help the pair who are racing alongside Roberto Merhi again.

“Nick Cassidy joins Daniel Gaunt and Nobuya Yamanaka in the #1 car which sports New Zealand colours. Nobuya started the car in Shanghai and did a great job to stay on his target pace for his stint but unfortunately a gearbox failure resulted in the car retiring.

“However, we now have high expectations for the car at The Bend and it looks like a challenging track both for the drivers and engineers. We can’t wait for the action to start!”

The second round of the championship gets underway Friday January 10 with Free Practice. Qualifying takes place on the Saturday with the four-hour endurance race at 13.00 local time.
