Having enjoyed a strong showing and a first podium of the season last time out, Eurasia Motorsport are looking forward to this weekend’s second round of the TCR Asia Series which takes place at the Chinese Zhuhai venue from Friday.

Armed with two new Hyundai i30 N TCRs, Daniel Miranda and ‘Zack’ Gao Hua Yang made best of all of the opportunities at Sepang, with Daniel scoring a fine P2 finish in the second race, within striking distance of the race winner.

The focus for Eurasia Motorsport is to ensure that both drivers make it into the top ten in qualifying so that both can take advantage of reverse grid opportunities and to maximise strategy based around this.

“We learned a great deal in Malaysia and we’re looking forward to this weekend’s Chinese round,” stated Team Principal Mark Goddard. “Zack was unfortunate in qualifying in the last race, so we need to get him into the top ten so he can move forward from there. Daniel is proving to be quick from the outset which is great given this is his first season in the TCR Championship. His confidence will have been boosted with his first podium, so we head into the race weekend confident that we can gain further podiums and valuable championship points.”

Eurasia Motorsport are also delighted to confirm that Daniel, fifth in the championship standings with 26 points, has been selected by Hyundai to join the Customer Racing Junior Driver program. This ensures that the Philippine driver enjoys additional support from the manufacturer as well as advice and guidance from its FIA WTCR drivers.

Daniel Miranda
“I’m very excited about the next TCR Asia event in Zhuhai and I hope to further improve on my performance in Sepang and achieve strong results in both races. It would be great to get back on the podium again and improve on my current position of fifth in the standings.”

‘Zack’ Gao Hua Yang
“Before Sepang I didn’t really know what to expect from the Hyundai i30 N TCR and it has been a challenge for me after a little time out of racing. Qualifying wasn’t ideal in Sepang, but the races were really good. I made a perfect start in both races and battled in the midfield and I scored points and got the ‘most overtakes’ prize. I don’t need to learn the circuit for this round at Zhuhai, but I’ll continue to learn about the car. Normally I don’t like to do any forecasts, so let’s see what we can do!”
