Eurasia Motorsport with WINEURASIA battle to fifth position in Thailand

Having qualified a strong second for the third round of the Asian Le Mans Series, Eurasia Motorsport and WINEURASIA had high hopes of a strong result this afternoon, (8 January, 2017) in the 4H of Buriram in Thailand, but ultimately had to be content with fifth position.
Scott Andrews, Aidan Read and William Lok shared the driving duties behind the wheel of the #99 Ligier LMP3. Andrews duly qualified the Ligier on Saturday in second position, feeling that had he found a clear lap, pole position could have been possible.
Read took the start, running second in class behind the fast-starting #67 PRT Racing Ginetta and once he handed over to Andrews for the first stop and with great pit-work, the #99 Ligier emerged in the lead.
Andrews maintained his advantage at the front of the field until just before the mid-point of the race when he handed over to Lok for a double stint. However, with the field so closely packed – with just 48 seconds covering the front-runners, Lok lost out in late in the race before Andrews took over and finished the race in fifth position.
“We would obviously much rather have finished on the podium,” explained Team Principal Mark Goddard. “Aidan and Scott both had good stints and put us towards the front. We know William and we know he is a good and improving driver. It’s just today the cards didn’t fall for him, so we’re a little disappointed with P5, but that’s racing…”
The final round of the championship takes place at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, January 20 – 22.
