LeSports by Eurasia Motorsport has concluded two successful practice sessions and qualified well at the Red Bull Ring in Austria ahead of round three of the European Le Mans Series (15-17 July, 2016).
Riding high following a fifth place finish at Le Mans last month, Tristan Gommendy took to the track this afternoon at the Grand Prix venue, putting in a string of consistent laps and saving his very best – a 1:20.927 – to his final push. The time, just two-tenths off pole position, is good enough for a solid fourth position in the grid for Sunday’s four-hour race.
With just ten minutes of qualifying, it came down to a string of six quick laps from the Frenchman in the Oreca Nissan, picking up speed with each tour of the 4.326km circuit and leaving him feeling confident of another strong showing.
“The car feels very good and together with the Le Sports team and my teammate we’re looking forward to a strong showing tomorrow,” said Gommendy. “I wish we could be higher, but that (final) lap was a good one.”
Coverage of the race will be streamed live to viewers in China and Hong Kong on the www.lesports.com website. The race gets underway at 14.00 CET.
