Frank Yu finished a fine third in the GT Asia support race for the Suzuka Super GT 1000kms event. He had started from 5th place in the Craft Eurasia Racing Ford GT3 and after making an early super fast pit stop was up to third place once all the pit stops had cycled through, setting his fastest lap of the weekend in the process.
Race one on Saturday had seen Yu start from the pit lane after the car selected reverse gear on the grid. He charged up though the field and was first to make a mandatory pit stop, a strategy which made allowed him to gain several places. This plus some outstanding overtaking maneuvers saw him finish the race in fifth position, a great drive from last in the 20 car field.
The next round of the championship will be held at Autopolis Circuit in Japan and Samson Chan will rejoin the series in his Ford GT3 having missed the Suzuka race due to commitments in Europe.
