Greg Murphy finished third in the Promotions Class for round 7 of the Asian F3 Series held at the Sentul Circuit in Indonesia but was caught out by torrential rain during round 8 and was unable to finish.
Murphy qualified fourth for the first Sentul Race and he was able to finish third despite suffering from a flu virus. Lee Farrell won from Moreno Soeprapto which closed the points battle up, only 15 points covering the top three with Moreno leading Murphy and Farrell. The second race of the day was going to be really important for the points battle and the first four laps were sensational with Moreno, Farrell, Murphy and newcomer Barry Waugh all close together. Waugh and Murphy spent most of the first two laps side by side. However it all went wrong on the fourth lap when the heavens opened and the race was red flagged. Almost the entire filed had spun out when they hit a wall of water and the rules dictate that only those cars who where not assisted back to the grid could re-start. Murphy, Farrell and Waugh were all towed back so they were out whilst the only Promotion Class runners to make it back under their own steam where Moreno and JP Tuason. They finished in that order on the re-start.
This now leaves Moreno leading with 110 points from Murphy with 84 and Farrell with 75. Greg now needs Moreno to suffer some bad luck to have a realistic chance of winning the Championship.
