Minardi Team Asia driver, Aaron Lim, qualified second a mere .001 of a second slower than the pole time for round nine of the Asian Formula BMW Series. Team mate Jonathan Chan will start ninth on the grid.

In an exciting session Lim and eventual pole winner, Charlie Charlez, traded fastest lap for 25 minutes of the 30 minute session. Lim spun at the final turn and damaged his floor with 5 minutes to go whilst Charlez went off at the same spot a minute later and was beached in the gravel trap. “I think there was something dropped on the track” reported Lim, “the car just under steered off”.

The second session, for round ten, was no less exciting with Lim initially going fastest before Charlez went two tenths quicker than the whole field. Armaan Ebrahim then jumped Lim for second place just .007 of a second slower than pole. “I flat spotted two tyres in the first QTT when I went off and it slightly affected the balance” reported Lim.

Jonathan Chan qualified ninth in both sessions, recording a 55.6 second lap in both times. “I am losing time under braking but the data shows I am getting closer and I hope in the race I will closer to the pace” said Chan.
