Kyle Mitchell ran as high as second before finishing a fine third whilst Kushlani held off the more experienced Zahir Ali by less than one tenth of a second to follow his team mate home. Mitchell and Kushlani are now first and second in the rookie class and third and fifth in the overall championship.
At the start Mitchell forged in front of Grunwell and held him off for a couple of laps before settling into a safe third place. Behind however Akhil has his hands full of Zahir Ali but the Indian star had him covered in a fine display of race craft that saw them cross the line centimeters apart.
Team Manager summed up the event by saying “We didn’t quite have the pace of the top two but we were the fastest rookie drivers and the next event is Sentul which is new to most drivers and therefore will be more of a level playing field. Grunwell and Ali know the track but they will not have tested there, unlike this event, therefore I am confident our drivers will be right on the pace”.
Sentul takes place on July 21-22.
