Kimiya Sato finished third in todays final round of the Formula BMW Series held at the Macau GP. Team Mate, Aditya Patel, was sixth and top rookie driver.
Sato made a good start and slotted into third place. He kept close to the leaders for the first three laps and then cruised to the finish under strict instructions to finish the race to gain experience for F3 in 2009. Patel was in a tight group battling for fifth place and eventually finished sixth and top roookie, a fine drive to end the season.
Marlon Stockinger started last after crashing on the first lap of qualifying and finished in 17th place.
“Kimiya drove really well, did not put a scratch on the car and achieved the aim of a podium finish. We are really impressed with him and I am sure he has a great future in motor sport.” reported Eurasia’s Mark Goddard.
Testing now gets under way in December in Sepang for the 2009 season.
