The Filipino driver is joining the team for the six event Asian Series in a Hyundai Elantra N TCR. The ex-Philippine Vios Cup Champion has already successfully completed six days of testing at the Sepang Circuit in Malaysia. The first round of the championship will be held at the Shanghai F1 Circuit on April 25-27.
The series will begin in Shanghai before moving to Sepang in June, Buriram Chang International Circuit in July and August before ending with two events at the Inje Speedium in South Korea in September and October.
Red Diwa has raced successfully in the Philippines in the Toyota Vios Cup, FV1 and Mazda Miata championships. The aim of driver and team is to be competitive in the TCR Asia Cup Class for amateur drivers.
Mark Goddard, Eurasia Motorsport Team Principal, observed that Red’s performance in testing has shown a steady improvement culminating in competitive lap times for the class. “It’s a big jump in performance for Red with a significant increase in power and grip compared to the cars he has raced until now. He has really applied himself to learning how to drive the car and we are confident he will be competitive in class and will only get better as the season progresses.”
