Tristan Gommendy will join Eurasia Motorsport for the 2016 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) after the team announced that it will enter its new Oreca 05 Nissan, with Gommendy joining Kevin Pu Jun Jin and Nick de Bruijn.
Eurasia Motorsport Team Principal, Mark Goddard, states: “We feel with Tristan on board that we have a very strong driver line up which will give us a chance of being competitive in the European Le Mans Series. While we seriously considered entering the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) next year we came to the conclusion it was better to concentrate on the European Series and look to move up to WEC in 2017. If we gain an entry we do want to compete in the Le Mans 24 Hours and a warm-up in the Spa FIA WEC round would help. However, it’s dependent on us receiving an entry.
“Tristan is a platinum driver for a good reason, He has a wealth of experience in formula cars, having raced in Formula 3, World Series, GP2, Superleague and Champ Cars, plus he has proven to be one of the fastest LMP2 drivers out there. He stepped in for us in the Fuji round of Asian Le Mans and did a fantastic job, which made the decision to race together in 2016 very easy. He is also a winner of the Macau Grand Prix and anyone who can do that has to be more than just good.”
