Eighteen year old Indonesian race driver, Zahir Ali, is in confident mood that he has put his shaky start to the 2006 Formula BMW Asia season behind him and that he can now look forward to a successful event at the Goldenport Circuit, Beijing China where rounds 6 to 8 of the series will be held on June 10-11th.

The first two rounds of the series were held at the Sepang F1 circuit and Zahir’s fastest race lap in the final Sepang race demonstrated he already possesses the speed to win races in the ultra competitive championship. However what let the talented Indonesian karting champion down was the starts to the races. “Zahir was just too slow off the line and took too long to get up to speed over the first couple of laps” reports Eurasia Motorsport’s race engineer, Mark Burgess. “He was in fact much better in the second Sepang event but we will still be making him practice starts during the run up to the race in Beijing”.

Apart from a one off race in Asian Formula Three this is Zahir’s first year of car racing, the Indonesian preferring to race karts in Europe the past two seasons rather than graduate to cars at a younger age. “Zahir is certainly one of the most talented drivers we have run over the past years and I am sure he is soon going to be challenging for race wins” remarked Eurasia Motorsport’s Mark Goddard.
