GT7D0812The Friday running for LeSports by Eurasia Motorsport today (26 August, 2016) at Circuit Paul Ricard proved to be a fraught affair with ‘Kevin’ Pu Jun Jin suffering an accident whilst behind the wheel of the #33 Oreca Nissan.

Whilst it was a significant incident, Pu Jun Jin is expected to make a full recovery. However, the incident means he is set to miss the remainder of the fourth round of the championship at La Castellet. Tristan Gommendy and Nick de Bruijn will share the driving duties as the team aim to build on their first podium from last time out in Austria.

“Signes is one of the fastest corners in motorsport, so going off there is never going to be good,” explained LeSports by Eurasia Motorsport Team Principal, Mark Goddard. “However the LMP2 is a seriously safe car and thanks to the efforts of the ACO and Oreca Pu Jun Jin was essentially uninjured in the accident.

“Whilst the same cannot be said for the car, it will be repaired and out for practice and qualifying tomorrow (Saturday 27 August). The Eurasia mechanics are doing their customary fantastic job to rebuild the car and we can look forward to a successful race on Sunday.

“Pu Jun Jin will not drive as he needs time to fully recover therefore Tristan Gommendy and Nick de Bruijn will do the driving duties.”

Round four of the European Le Mans Series gets underway at Circuit Paul Ricard with the race starting Sunday at 13.20 CET.
