Aaron Chang twice finished third in the Asian Driver Class at the final Formula Pilota event held at the Sepang F1 Circuit in Malaysia. He was fifth and fourth overall in the two races. Team mate Jordan Oon finished eighth and seventh on his Formula Pilota debut.

Aaron Chang qualified fifth for race one whilst Oon would start from eighth in the 15 car field. Poor starts saw both drivers lose places on the first lap but they clawed their way back up through the field to finish in seventh and eighth places. The grid for race two is determined by a driver’s fastest race one lap time and this resulted in Oon starting in 5th and Chang 6th.

Oon was again slow away at the start and dropped back through the field. He gradually made his way up to seventh and was closing in on 6th place but ran out time to make a challenge. He did post 4th fastest race time demonstrating his improvement in pace over the race weekend. Chang made a good start to slot into 4th place and he drove a good race to pull away from the field and was in fact closing on third place at the flag.

“ Aaron has made a step forward after his first F. Pilota race at Tianma in China and Jordan gets quicker every time he sits in the car” reported Eurasia’s Mark Goddard.

The non-championship Formula Pilota Masters race takes place on December 1-3 also at the Sepang Circuit.
