Aaron Chang took a consummate win in the F.Pilota Masters at the Sepang F1 Circuit qualifying race soaking up race long pressure from team mate, Jordan Oon. Natasha Seatter finished third on the road giving Eurasia Motorsport a podium lockout but she was given a time penalty for causing an avoidable accident and dropped to fifth in the results.

The race took place in greasy conditions as the track had not fully dried from the torrential rain which had caused the race to be postponed from the previous day. Chang made a good start whilst fellow front row starter, Jordan Oon, was a little slow away and was taken by Zheng Sun on the run up to turn one. Oon was quickly by Zheng with a neat move into turn four and was soon on the tail of the leader. Chang and Oon spent the rest of the race swapping fastest race laps pulling away from the rest of the field at a rate over two seconds a lap. Try as he might Oon was unable to break Chang’s defences and they completed a fine one-two for the team.

Natasha Seatter meanwhile was having a frustrating race attempting to find a way past a fiercely defending Zheng Sun. It all came to head under braking when Zheng slowed “more than I expected” and she punted him into a spin. The stewards issued a 30 second penalty dropping her to 5th in the results but it was a feisty drive from the local driver.

The main race will take place later this morning and a close race is again expected between the Eurasia pace setters.
