AirAsia Asean Driver Development Program Launched

Nabil Jeffri was announced, by Tony Fernandes CEO of AirAsia, as a member of the AirAsia Asean Driver Development Program which was launched at the AirAsia Academy in Kuala Lumpur on April 28th. The program is designed to nurture up-and–coming young drivers in their quest to become Formula One Drivers. Jeffri is receiving training from ex-F1 driver, Alex Yoong, who is working alongside Eurasia Motorsport to develop Nabil into a star of tomorrow.

Two drivers have been selected for 2010, Nabil and 12 year old Singaporean Karter, Daim Hishammuddin. “AirAsia is searching the field of talent in this region for youngsters, both male and female, to joun the programme. We want to find young drivers with great talent and commitment for success” stated Fernandes at the launch. “As a bonus, these youngsters will also receive AirAsia support for publicity and sponsorship. We will help to raise their profiles and help them source other long-term corporate sponsorship”

His experience at the highest level of the sport is a great asset to Nabil and all our drivers” reported Eurasia’s Mark Goddard. “Considering Nabil’s experience to date he has already demonstrated he possesses great talent and we expect him to be fully competitive by the season’s end and vying for championship honours in 2011.”
