Eurasia Motorsport’s Axcil Jefferies was first past the line in round three of the Formula BMW Pacific Series held at the Sepang International Circuit today. He belied his young age with a mature drive soaking up tremendous pressure before pulling way to record his first race win of the season.

Team mate Chris Wootton was a little slow away at the start handing the lead to a fast starting Jefferies. The Zimbabwean pulled out a small gap to the battling Wootton who was fending off Gary Thompson and the pack. However it ended in tears at turn one when Thompson out braked Wootton into turn one and another competitor tried to follow him through in an overly ambitious attempt at a pass. The subsequent contact forced Chris to pit to repair the damage, the Eurasia Team replacing a steering arm and front wing allowing Wootton to rejoin a lap down. Despite their best efforts Chris finished just outside the points.

Meanwhile Jefferies was soaking up the pressure from Thompson making no mistakes and giving his rival no chance of taking the lead. Thompson actually found a way past into turn one by leaving his braking impossibly late but Jefferies kept his cool and cut past again as Thompson ran wide on the exit. Axcil then pulled away at the end of the race to take an accomplished win and put himself right in the thick of the title race.

“Axcil demonstrated today he is a real talent and has a great future in front of him. He stayed cool under pressure and won the race on genuine pace” reported Eurasia Motorsport’s Mark Goddard. “Round four takes place this afternoon and we hope Chris can convert pole position into his first win of the season”.
