Eurasia Motorsport and Jackie Chan DC Racing head to Sepang, Malaysia this weekend (20 – 22 January, 2017) for the final round of the 2016/17 Asian Le Mans Series with the championship firmly in their sights in both the LMP2 and LMP3 categories.

With victories in both China and Thailand, plus a runner-up position in Japan, the #35 Jackie Chan DC Racing LMP2 trio of Ho-Pin Tung, Gustavo Menezes and Thomas Laurent head to the season finale at the home of the Malaysian Grand Prix with a 19-point lead over their nearest rival.

“We have a nice lead in the championship which is comfortable but not unassailable,” said Team Principal Mark Goddard. “It’s still a nice way to enter the final event and It’s going to be a close fight and we are really looking forward to it.

“Sepang is our home circuit and it would be great to finish the series with a win,” he continued. “The #35 Oreca 03R Nissan won the last time out at this venue in the hands of Antonio Giovinazzi and Sean Gelael and our current line-up of Gustavo Menezes, Ho-Pin Tung and Thomas Laurent are more than capable of taking the chequered flag first again.”

Jackie Chan DC Racing will again field the #1 Ligier JSP3 with James Winslow, David Cheng, Hiroki Yoshida back behind the wheel.

With 48 points on the board, they are just seven points shy of the championship LMP3 leader and seeking a strong result to overcome the deficit.

“We really need an incident free race with the #1 Ligier LMP3 in what is a four-way battle for the championship,” Goddard said. “We currently lie seven points behind the championship leader and with 26 points on the table for the Sepang deciding race we have everything to play for.  We need to win and I see no reason why we cannot clinch the championship.”
