ade12686-editLeSports by Eurasia Motorsport enjoyed a strong qualifying session this afternoon (24 September, 2016) at Spa Francorchamps ahead of Round 5 of the European Le Mans Series and will line up Sunday in fourth position.

Having just missed out on the Podium last time out at Paul Ricard, Eurasia are aiming high in Belgium and have paved the way for a potentially good result with Tristan Gommendy claiming the second-row start in the #33 Oreca Nissan.

“It’s not the fastest time in qualifying and again we have shown better relative pace in practice,” said LeSports by Eurasia Motorsport Team Principal, Mark Goddard. “But we’re fourth which is a lot better than at Le Castellet where we just missed out on the podium, so there’s a lot to look forward to.”

Having set the eighth fastest time in Friday practice with ‘Kevin’ Pu Jun Jin re-acclimatising himself, while day two of the action saw Gommendy setting the pace throughout most of the morning practice session before losing put in the final minutes to the eventual pole-winner.

“Kevin is back up to speed after his incident in France and we knew that Tristan would get the job done in qualifying, so it’s all down to the race where we again expect to be up there or thereabouts and aiming for a podium,” Goddard concluded.

The 4 Hours of Spa Francorchamps, Round 5 of the European Le Mans Series, gets underway Sunday at 14.00 CET.
