Frank Yu finished third in the GT Asia Class of the Macau GT Cup, eighth overall in the strongest Macau GT field to date. In a thrilling race Yu grabbed third place at Lisboa on the last lap from Hisao Shigeta. The Hong Kong driver had started 13th overall, sixth in class after encountering traffic in qualifying and gradually made his past his rivals in a great controlled drive.
The race was punctuated by a four lap safety car period whilst the barriers were repaired at Fisherman’s corner after they were attacked by an errant Porsche. “I am so happy, after qualifying I was a little depressed but I knew I had the pace to be in the top three” reported Frank Yu. “This is the best I have driven at Macau and to be on the podium here is a great feeling”.
