Samson Chan and Frank Yu this time finished second and third respectively in round four of the GT3 Asia Series held at the Japanese Super GT meeting at Sepang in Malaysia. Eric Cheung was eighth after being spun out of fifth on the last lap.
Frank Yu made a great start to lead the first lap from Tunku Hammam and Samson Chan. Hammam was by after a lap and drew away as Samson and Frank had a great battle over second place. Samson found a way past in a brave dive at the final turn. A closely following Dilantha Malagamuwa took advantage and demoted Frank to fourth place. Whilst Dilantha defended from Frank Yu, Samson Chan was able to pull out a gap and not worry about any attacks from behind. Frank was soon past Dilantha and gradually pulled away into a safe third place.
Eric Cheung looked safe in fifth place until the last lap when Siu Yuk Lung left his braking far too late at turn lap and slammed into the rear of Cheung’s Ginetta. Eric spun and stalled but was able to restart and finish 8th, just taking the place from a Siu who was crawling his badly damaged car to the line.
“We are very happy to have all three cars finish again and to get another double podium. We have more updates developed by the team coming for the next event and we are looking forward to getting even more speed out of the cars” reported Team Manager Mark Goddard.
Rounds 5 and 6 will also be held at Sepang on July 17-18th.
