Samson Chan finished fourth overall, first non-professional driver, in his Eurasia Craft Ginetta G50Z with team mate, Frank Yu, in seventh place. The Ginetta once again demonstrated it is a competitive GT3 Asia car run by this year’s Team Champions.
Qualifying was interrupted by red flags which left Samson Chan a little disappointed with fourth on the grid whilst Frank Yu was back in ninth after being badly baulked on every lap. At the start the top three, Sawa, Marchy Lee and Danny Watts, made a break leaving Samson Chan to fend off Tunku Hamman’s Lamborghini in a race long dice. Samson was especially fast through the first turn and Mandarin and drove a faultless race to finish a tenth in front of Hamman at the flag.
Frank Yu had a more lonely race in seventh place, pulling way from 2010 GT3 Asia champion, Dilantha Malagamuwa but not quite able to catch Mok’s Porsche.
Both Samson Chan and Frank Yu will return to GT3 Asia, along with team mate Eric Cheung who missed the Macau race.
