Eurasia Motorsport aims to hit the ground running this weekend (6-8 January 2017) as the Asian Le Mans Series reconvenes for the third round of the championship at Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand.
Once again Eurasia will be supporting Jackie Chan DC Racing which fields two cars and will be looking to get back to its winning ways followed victory in round one in Zhuhai, China and then the runner-up spot last time out at Fuji Speedway.
Ho-Pin Tung, Gustavo Menezes, Thomas Laurent will again pilot the #35 Jackie Chan DC Racing Oreca 03R Nissan and will spearhead the challenge for victory. Ho-Pin Tung and Menezes currently head the Asian Le Mans Series championship standings with 43 points, nine ahead of their nearest challenger.
“We were very disappointed not to win the race overall in Fuji after the engine developed an electrical misfire,” stated Team Principal Mark Goddard. “We are confident the issue will be solved and we can get back to our winning ways in Buriram.
“Last year the car dominated the race in the hands of Sean Gelael and Antonio Giovinazzi and our current line-up of Gustavo Menezes, Ho-Pin Tung and Thomas Laurent is capable of reproducing our Zhuhai race winning form.”
James Winslow, David Cheng, Hiroki Yoshida reunite to drive the #1 Jackie Chan DC Racing Ligier LMP3. The trio finished third in class in Japan and are second in the championship, just four points shy of the category leaders.
“Last time out we suffered a cracked exhaust manifold and the hot gases escaped and over-heated the gearbox control box,” Goddard stated. “This meant that the car was stuck in fourth gear for most of the final hour. We know the car, we are confident in a reliable run and the drivers are capable of winning in Buriram, so we look forward to return to the top step of the podium.”
Practice gets underway from 15.00 on Friday 6 January with qualifying at 16.10 on Saturday and the 4H of Buriram Sunday at 12.15 local time, 05.15 GMT.5
