Ananda Mikola entered the history books by winning the main race in the first Formula V6 Asia by Renault. The Eurasia Motorsport driver started the race from fifth on the grid and worked his way up to second place behind Karun Chandok. The race was red flagged twice, first when a track sign collapsed just after the cars had passed on the first lap and secondly when two cars tangled at the first corner of the restart.
Chandok’s car ground to a halt with an electrical problem a couple of laps from the end, allowing Ananda to sweep by for a win. Hamad was second and Seth Ingham was third.
“This was a great result of the Eurasia Motorsport Team” reported Team Manager Piers Hunnisett “and it gives us a good platform on which to build a championship challenge”.
The next round will also be held on the Sepang F1 Circuit as a support race to the Japanese Super GT event on June 25th.
