A comprehensive pre-season testing campaign leaves Axcil Jefferies in a confident frame of mind for his first car race, round one of the 2009 Formula BMW Pacific Series at the Malaysian F1 GP event to be held at the Sepang Circuit on April 4th.
Eurasia Motorsport formulated a comprehensive testing program for the young Zimbabwean driver and it leaves both driver and team confident they will be competitive from the start of the season. Jefferies has consistently been setting top three fastest lap times in testing this year, often the fastest time of the session. The team and driver have worked hard not only on speed but on starts and race craft giving Axcil the best possible chance of performing well in his first event. Axcil has also undergone a rigorous physical training program to ensure he is in top shape for the season.
Axcil reports “It is going to be incredibly exciting to start my first car race at a Formula One Grand Prix and I am really looking forward to getting on track next week.”
Axcil is a BMW Junior Driver, having won a 50,000 Euro scholarship for the season, and his weekend will include visits to the BMW Sauber F1 Race Team Pit Garage allowing him to get a real taste of life in the upper echelons of the sport.
“This year looks like it will be extremely competitive with some very talented drivers on the grid so I believe just like in 2006 when the likes of Daniel Ricciardo, Earl Bamber, Sam Abay, Dominic Storey and Aaron Lim were racing in the series that 2008 will see the start of several successful careers in motorsport and I am sure Axcil Jefferies has a bright future ahead of him” reported Eurasia Motorsport’s Mark Goddard.
Axcil’s team mate is Chris Wootton who will start his second season in F.BMW Pacific and he should also be fighting for victories. “We have a very strong line up with Chris and Axcil and we are now really looking forward to the season. The whole team can’t wait for the flag to drop at the first race!” remarked Goddard.
