Dado Pena finished fourth in Round Eleven of the Asian Formula Three Series held at the Batangas Race Circuit on November 6th. He had started a disappointed sixth after a qualifying crash but worked his way up the field finishing just off the podium but a place in front of arch rival, Tyson Sy.
Round twelve, the final race of the season, saw a dramatic start with Pena and Sy clashing at the first turn. “Tyson just turned in on me and the impact broke my suspension” reported a disappointed Pena. “Racing incident” was Tyson’s explanation.Pena, who is supported by PLDT MyPad and PLDT MyDSL will return to drive for Team Goddard Minardi Team Asia in the 2006 Series in a new Dallara 304 model car and he will start as one of the favorites for Championship honors. “This year Dado has had seven top six finishes and the potential is there for him to become championship winning material” said Team Boss and former AF3 Champion, Mark Goddard.
Pena has one more race in 2005, he will be racing in the Formula Renault race at Macau on November 20th to learn the circuit in preparation for his entry in the 2006 Macau F3 Grand Prix. “The winner of the AF3 Series is given an entry for the Macau F3 Grand Prix and I fully intend to be that driver next year” quipped Pena.
